Pilot Project for the National Project of Bio Big Data 2020 to 2022
National Project of Bio Big Data is a project to envision precision medicine by creating a vast repository of human health, medical, physiological and genomic data from South Korean population. Pilot Project is focused on collecting data on rare disease patients to identify genetic risk factors, which will help inform the development of new treatments.
Establishment of Healthcare-MedicalResearch Data Center
The National Institute of Health, The era where big data of healthcare research resources is open assess or controlled access. The national future medical research leads a new era for identifying a cause of disease! In the era of BIO BIGDATA, the National Institute of Health provides a platform where researchers can use secured and open resources for research on the health of people and bio health at the “Healthcare-Medical Research Data Center”.

What We do
Advanced regenerative medical safety management
The Korea National Institute of Health provides support to ensure the safety of research subjects of advanced regenerative medicine clinical research and to facilitate clinical research.
Article 19 of the Act on the Safety of and Support for Advanced Regenerative Medicine and Advanced Biological Products
National Institute of Infectious Diseases
As the control tower for national infectious disease research to secure “vaccine sovereignty,” we develop measures and produce scientific evidence for the prevention of and prompt response to infectious diseases. We investigate not only emerging and variant infectious diseases but also unresolved infectious diseases, vectors, and drug resistance, and conduct diverse clinical trials.
Korea National Stem Cell Bank
Korea National Stem Cell Bank (KSCB) is a biorepository of the human pluripotent stem cell lines. To be the world`s leading class as an infrastructure supporting regenerative medicine, the bank provides the high quality stem cells and related information for regenerative medicine. The bank will compliance with standards of bioethics and safety regulations.
The GMP Manufacturing facility
The GMP Manufacturing facility which is belonged to the National Center for Stem Cell and Regerative Medicine (NCSR) was opened in 2016 to accelerate clinical research of the stem cell and regenerative medicine field. In addition to manufacturing and distribution of iPSC sources that can be used for clinical research, we support manufacture of cell therapeutics for clinical research. Recently, by starting a GMP training course for manufacture of advanced regenerative therapeutics, we expect that the GMP market will be facilitated.
National Brain Biobank of Korea (NBBK)
The National Brain Biobank of Korea is being established to collect advanced brain and human body resources with antemortem clinical data, such as brain imaging scans, and postmortem pathological information and provide them to basic and clinical researchers to activate Korea’s dementia research.
